Corporal Mead was a member of Battery A, 145th Anti-Aircraft Artillery (Automatic Weapons) Battalion, 45th Division. He died of other causes on May 30, 1952 near Kolmogal, North Korea. Corporal Mead was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
