Sergeant First Class Ferguson was a member of Company B, 1st Battalion, 187th Airborne Infantry Regimental Combat Team. He was seriously wounded the enemy in South Korea on November 24, 1950 and died of those wounds the following day. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. Sergeant First Class Ferguson was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
