Sergeant First Class Rose was a member of Company A, 89th Medium Tank Battalion, 25th Infantry Division. While his unit was supporting the 35th Infantry Regiment near Yongsan, Korea on November 28, 1950, he was listed as Missing in Action. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. For his leadership and valor, Sergeant First Class Rose was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
